The Faculty of Marine Sciences organized Seminar and an awareness walk to mark the World Fisheries Day. The World Fisheries Day is celebrated every year on November 21. A large number of faculty members, students, researchers and staff participated in the walk and attended the seminar.Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shafi, Dr. Muhsan Ali, Dr. Zafarullah, Dr. Waliullah Masroor, Mr. Safdar Hussain, Mr. Iftikhar Ahmed, Ms. Meenah Sohail and Mr. Shaikh Sanaullah addressed to the participant and highlighted the importance of sustainable fisheries resources. They also drawn attention towards issues of fisheries and fish industry in Pakistan including overfishing, use of illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing activities and habitat destruction. Speakers highlighted the issues particular along Balochistan coast, they also suggest developing modern fish harbors and fishing processing units instead of giving permit to dry fish/fish meal processing companies.
