INTRODUCTION

Biotechnology and Bioinformatics are amongst the most vibrant and rapidly evolving areas of modern applied sciences.

Biotechnology is a broad scientific discipline with the application of biological sciences combine with the genetic engineering. From the food produced by modern agriculture and livestock farms to the development of medicines and modern diagnostic techniques in clinical sciences and clean up the environment we are living in, biotechnology has influenced many facets of our daily living standards. In the field of biotechnology, the cellular and biological processes are being exploited to produce functional products in the field of agriculture, livestock, environment, health care, industry and research. Major developments are being made in the field by the academic and professionals almost every day.

Almost all the advancements been made in the field of biotechnology have been achieved by using the combination biological and computer sciences that both make the discipline of “bioinformatics”

Bioinformatic tools are widely used to manage the vast genomic and proteomic data involving DNA/protein sequences management, drug designing, homology modelling, motif/domain prediction, docking, annotation and dynamic simulation etc. Bioinformatics offers a wide range of applications in numerous disciplines such as genomics. Proteomics, comparative genomics, nutrigenomics, microbial genome, biodefense, forensics etc. Thus, it offers promising future to accelerate scientific research in biotechnology.

A degree in biotechnology and bioinformatics produces specialists in the field of cellular and molecular biology, genetics, genomics, genetic engineering, and proteomics with the specialization in the field of computational biology and biological (molecular) data analysis, who work in the domain of biotechnology and other life science research.

MISSION

To explore new advancements in the field of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics through research and to highlight the importance of biotechnology, bioinformatics and molecular biology in the modern world that are making new advancements in modification of productive crops and animals, disease diagnoses and correction of the genetic disorders by applying the techniques of gene therapy, cleaning of environment and many more to create goods and services of value to the society.

To produce manpower with good background knowledge, highly skilled with utmost working attitude in the field of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics.
